Been reading some posts from my friend living in Afganistan. Sounds like the riots are pretty scarry. He says the bar he works at is closed for now, however on Thursday there will be a pool tournament. Yep life must go on.

Michael Yon has also had some amazing posts from his time in Iraq. He's also been nominated for a Pulitzer prize.

He's an independant writer unaffiliated and supported by donations. His only "slant" if you will is that he wants to report about what the soldiers go through, which is pretty clear in his writings. Some of the stories are truely amazing.
