I knew I knew not
And I didn’t know I knew
Now my face implodes
***
What’s this trigger do?
Ouch, my right foot really hurts
Let’s try the left one
***
As I tell my tales
Watch me blink out in Morse Code:
“I’m a lying [bleep]”
***
I am not lying
Except for what I just said
And what I’ll say next
***
I’ve been a liar
A lot longer than Barack
But without his gift
***
My nose doesn’t grow
(Way too much rhinoplasty)
But my stitches twitch
***
Lefty blogs confused
They’ll opine on me, after
Rahm’s conference call
***
Who’s nervous? Not me
I’ve looked like this ever since
They cut up my face
***
I own some vineyards
Which will give me a good place
To store my sour grapes
***
Waterboarding stinks
I thought it would moisturize
But my face pruned up

Re: Pelosi + Haiku = Pelosiku
Sat, May 16, 2009 - 12:52 PMThe one thing everyone knows about Latin is that it is dead, and everyone is wrong about that.
The Church's official documents continue to be issued in Latin. Canon law is written in Latin. The Enlish translation of papal encyclicals, or the Catechism, for that matter, are not the binding ones. The 'official' versions are the Latin ones.
To put it another way, for a dead language, Latin looks good! :o) -

Re: Pelosi + Haiku = Pelosiku
Mon, May 18, 2009 - 9:13 AMAs Cicero said, “Non enim tam praeclarum est scire Latine quam turpe nescire.”
I've noticed that some people quote this without the "enim", while others insert a comma following Latine.
For those who don't know the great old language, Cicero said that it is not so great a thing (-excellent) to know Latin as it is a shame not to know it. -

Re: Pelosi + Haiku = Pelosiku
Mon, May 18, 2009 - 9:58 AMI only took one semester of Latin, which was enough for the project I was working on, but I wish I had the time to continue on. . .perhaps in my next lifetime. From time to time I read from a book of Latin quotes which has the Latin and the translation. .

Re: Pelosi + Haiku = Pelosiku
Wed, May 20, 2009 - 8:03 PMits a crying shame that languages aren't taken seriously in this country.
a german told me this joke:
what do you call a person who speaks several languages
. . .multilingual
what do you call a person who speaks two languages?
. . .bilingual
what do you call a person who speaks one language?
. . .american
She was german and came here to study french, in which she already had passable ability and of course she was fluent in english.
She later became a french teacher at the college level in the US. . .yea! ( thank god for immigrants )
