case in point:

www.madatoms.com/site/blog...ng-america

nice graphic. really catches the disconnect between pointless anger and fear and the reality of our fiscal situation.

but I guess idiots generate noise. and real discussion requires an attention span beyond thirty seconds. and even when you do try to interject reality into a discussion, you'll just get shouted down by a know-nothing jerk.

anyway. in case you want to argue the facts. this is where I'm coming from.

one ... "case in point:" etc.

?? who exactly is it you are considering the 'morons' in the referenced article?

    • The agencies listed in the MadAtom page aren't the ones that should be shut down. It's a stupid attempt at distraction from the real issues.
      • lester "The agencies listed in the MadAtom page aren't the ones that should be shut down. It's a stupid attempt at distraction from the real issues."

were you even aware that was humorous satire written by a comedy writer to point out the insanity of republican ideology?

        ... ... you weren't, huh?

and he feels he has to explain. painful.

it's just funny and sad. the condescension and pretense of superiority delivered with the subtlety of a frying pan to the back of the skull. it's a parody of itself almost.

whatever. one never knows with conservatives or people that parrot right wing talking points. they tend to be satire challenged.

in a poll the majority of conservatives that had watched the colbert report at least once thought it was for real ... that steven colbert was an actual conservative taking on the liberal left ... nevermind that it was on the comedy channel.
            • "conservatives or people that parrot right wing talking points"

But liberals and people that parrot left wing talking points are all geniuses. Of course. How silly of me to not understand that.

"that steven colbert was an actual conservative taking on the liberal left ... nevermind that it was on the comedy channel."

Kind of like the loony lefties that get their news from Jon Stewart. On Comedy Central. Or the clowns on MSNBC.

              >> they tend to be satire challenged. <<

they tend to be. talk about weasel wording. what are you actually trying to "say." does tend mean 50%? or 10%? and how does this relate to the pond scum that the Democrats wheel into plunk down their vote to extend their wellfare, foodstamps and freeloading?

              >> in a poll the majority of conservatives that had watched the colbert report at least once thought it was for real <<

and how sure are you that the poll was accurate? how concerned are you that the methodology was sound? or are you just "repeating leftwing talking points?" in light of your post, that would be kind of funny if you were. normally I wouldn't have to point that out. but based on the subtlety of your "humor" I'm not taking any obvious points for granted.
              • Has anybody else here bothered to look into the profile of d'kine? He doesn't have one. All we know about him is that he posts whatever the liberal talking point of the day is, and blames everything on Bush and Reagan. It's the kind of profile that I deny access when they want to join the tribes that I moderate. But I guess the comedy factor is enough to want to let him hang around.
                • Well....when I first joined the POLITICS tribe, I noticed that he posted some pretty intelligent stuff. Not necessarily insightful, and not stuff that I agreed with....but pretty intelligent nonetheless. Now I think he is just a bitter old man. Which is weird, considering Obama won and his party has a majority in congress.....

don't see any reason to continue posting on this site absent something remotely resembling rational and HONEST debate from the 'right' oriented members. poll methodology? wtf? it was a college project that went out clipboards in hand and asked some questions of a few thousand people. they were astounded to find over fifty percent of self identified republicans who had seen at least one episode of the colbert report considered him a straight up republican savaging the left. i wasn't astounded. anyone that still thought bush was a good president and the republican ideology was still the way to go is probably too fucking stupid to comprehend well done satire. and colbert is VERY well done satire.

anyway, who the fuck needs anything but a modicum of intelligence and common sense to know the far right has the sense of satirical humor of a box of hammers? they're fucking FAMOUS for being satirical humor challenged. part and parcel of that whole sheepbot thing they have going on. there's a reason all the quality humor and satire shows and sites are oriented to liberals.

from YOU i expected some real debate, honesty and rationality, well reasoned points.
